1. Folding in the front wheel

Rotate the handlebars clockwise about 3⁄4 of a turn so far that the handlebars and the front wheel are pointing towards you.

2. Swinging in the rear sub-frame

Stand with your foot either on the rear sub-frame, rear axle nut or on the luggage rack. Then lift up your BERNDS-Folding Bike by the saddle so that the suspension unit comes loose from the catch.

3. Swing the rear sub-frame forwards until the rear wheel is resting against the frame tube

The rear wheel will hold itself in position as well on the front wheel spokes and on the seat tube. You can now fold up the footstand; it will hold the front wheel to prevent it turning.
Note: With derailleur gears (and Dual Drive), you should put it into one of the top three gears (the ones with the larger sprocket diameter) before swinging in the rear sub-frame: this will prevent the chain coming off.
Folding in the handlebars: Loosen the quick-release lever on the handlebar stem, pull the handlebar unit upwards from the tube, and lay it flat on the frame or on the rear wheel on the chain side.

4. Folding in the seatpost

Loosen the quick-release lever on the seatpost, pull the seat tube upwards and out of the frame until you can feel the end stop and lay it on the left next to the frame tube. Fix the saddle and handlebars with the lashing strap by attaching the hook on the strap to a wheel spoke.
